The 50 most stylish men, ever

The good people at GQ have been nice enough to compile a list of the 50 most stylish men ever... Yes, ever.

Unfortunately I didn't make the cut, possibly due to the time when I wore raver pants.

Check out the GQ Top 50 here.

Breitling Navitimer World - Classic Aviation Style

Synonymous with aviation, Breitling have been producing time-pieces since 1884. Popular with both pilots and astronauts, the Navitimer series first began production in the 1940's using the circular slide rule which assisted aircraft pilots to help with dead reckoning. Unfortunately my back problems have restricted the amount of dead reckoning and twister I can partake in.

The Navitimer World is a mans watch... Not only does it look impressive on the wrist, you can be guaranteed that it will be conversation starter with the amount of digits and dials on the face. The Navitimer features a unique rimless bezel and with a diameter of 46mm it's definitely not for the conservative. A watch of this size doesn't suit everyone, however I do believe on the right wrist, it can be worn at any occasion.

The Navitimer World is currently available in black, silver and blue faces with matching sub dials. FYI, I'll be taking delivery of the black version in the coming weeks. Bring it on.

Find out more about the Breitling Navitimer World at the official Breitling website here.

The Plain Truth

Once upon a time I wasn't a massive fan of the plain t-shirt, singlet or plain anything come to think of it. It needed a logo, a pattern, a print or even a food stain would have been sufficient.

I've now become quite fond of the plain white, blue, green, lilac, yellow tshirt. Whether in v-neck or crew, they can add the right splash of colour without the distraction of a gaudy print on the front.

Checklist:

  • Good fit (no sloppy numbers unless you like electro clash music and are 16)
  • Quality cotton
  • Cheap and cheerful. (no need to blow $100 on a tshirt)
  • Try layering different colours
American Apparel's range of plain get up is great. They're fast becoming a global brand who provide simple causal and athletic clothing for men and women that now ship to most countries around the world. I prefer the cut of their V Necks which you can find here.

Essential Summer Part 1 - Shoes

I've always wanted to recommend an essential summer footwear collection, and until now I've never had an audience who gives a shit. Summer is almost here, so guys you better get saving (sorry for all you northern hemisphere peoples).

Dress - Wingtips / Brogues
Finding a good pair of tan, brown or white brogues can be a hard task however, choose wisely and you'll have a classic and if worn with jeans or most light coloured pants it can look great. Rounded toe is preferable and be careful of 2 tones as it can set off the 'wise-guy gangster' look.

Smart Casual - Espridrilles
Going out for a casual dinner on a balmy evening you can't go past the espridrilles. Again they are classic, but give a classy casual look, perfect for having just stepped off your 160-foot super yacht. They look awesome with shorts (above the knee) or light weight pants. Stick to neutrals, black or white and even stripes to set off the sunset tan.

Casual - Havaianas
I am still a fan of these in one of the many colours available. Sure they're simple, and they should only be worn on the beach (Yes, don't even think about wearing them out) but they're what summer is about.
