Mario testino : Let me in

Mario Testino has shot for Vogue, Gucci, and Vanity Fair. Plus a celebrity list which has included many actresses such as Kim Basinger, Cameron Diaz, Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Roberts, Meg Ryan, and Catherine Zeta-Jones, with models such as Gisele Bündchen, Elizabeth Hurley, and Kate Moss. Nice!

I've got to give props to one of his most recent publications, titled 'Let Me In'. It features some fantastic candid portraits of the worlds famous and beautiful. Whilst I was disappointed not to be featured as a double page spread in my jungle jocks, its still a great purchased for any coffee table.

David Beckham: Style Spotlight

Just mentioning his name in a group of women often can cause panting similar to a night at the greyhounds. Beckham is without a doubt one of the coolest cats on the block, sporting his latest designer threads and an abundance of stickers (tattoos). It makes me wonder, does he dress himself? Or does he have someone on the inside who offers sound advice for the Beckham 'look'. Regardless he is definitely a guy to look to for the latest fashion tips.

Whilst most women will shed a tear that he was in the girls line when they were handing out voices, I for one am suitably pleased. No man can be THAT cool, well maybe Sean Connery or Spiderman could be.

Preferred brands often worn by David Beckham:
Dsquared
Dolce & Gabbana

What socks to wear with suits

For some reason I still see guys wearing white socks with suits. The only person who ever pulled that look off was Michael Jackson, and we all know what happened to him. *cough* Bubbles *cough*

Actually socks can say a lot about someone's personality. For instance, someone who wear white socks with a suit has no fucking idea. However take the same man and throw a pair of red socks on him in a blue suit and you just might have a sartorial genius.

Traditionally you will want to match the socks to the pants, but if you're feeling creative, try these combinations.

Blue Suit - Red/Purple
Khaki Suit - Green/Navy Blue
Grey Suit - Navy/Light Blue
White Suit - Gold/silver socks (joke!) - No white suits unless you're that guy off Fantasy Island.

EDIT: Patterns are ok, just make sure they're subtle.

A new trend: Presidents dating models

It's not a rare sight to see an older man and a much younger women, in-fact there is some rule of halving your own ago then adding 7 years for the perfect match. If that is indeed true, I am getting married at 60.

Interestingly both the French and Russian Presidents have recently opted to leverage their power and jump ship to take up positions onboard younger, faster and fitter models. Good on them. All too often we're seeing politicians with wives who clearly don't believe in plastic surgery, botox or chemical peels.

I hope the Australian Prime Minister takes a leaf from his high-powered counterparts and dates an exotic dancer from northern Queensland named 'Kitten'.

Terre D'Hermés: Fragrance for Men

I've just purchased a new fragrance adding to my ever growing collection. Some guys like one, maybe two fragrances at most however I have a nose like a bloodhound and enjoy having a different scent every day of the week.

It was a tough choice between Tom Ford and Terre D'Hermés, both were masculine and 'now' but after letting both settle the Terre D'Hermés was coming home with me.

Hermés has been nice enough to provide the following description which will make sense to the bioligists and scientists reading this. "A plant & mineral scent combining heaven & earth. Blends citrus accents mineral notes of flint with plants & spices. Designed for men who is simple & complex tender & determined. Top notes of grapefruit orange flint. Middle notes of pepper geranium leaves patchouli. Base notes of cedar vetiver benzoin. " Yes, I thought so too.

Anyway, it's probably one of the freshest fragrances kicking around and well worth a smell and purchase. Oh and buy online, it's much cheaper.

George Clooney: Style Spotlight

If I could go to bed, rub my magic night light and wake up as anyone on this planet, it would have to be George Clooney. The man is probably the coolest 40 something bachelor on the face of the earth. Not only that, he's a great actor and he's got cool style and fashion sense. Cha-ching!

Freshly shaved or not, he looks the part dressed in a spiffy black or grey suit (which matches his hair) with his current squeeze on his arm. George is the type of guy you would love to have over for dinner but not have sit next to your girlfriend.

If I hit 40 and look like him, I'll be buying everyone a round of drinks. The reality is, I like the sun too much and will most probably look like a leather belt with eyes.

French Truckers

When I used to think of France I thought of hairy armpits and overpriced bubbly alcohol. Now I think of French Truckers, a great site who's approach is a "mixture of a shopping blog with an urban men’s magazine and friendly chat."

French Truckers is actually a bastard child of the famous french site 'Comme un camion' who's name is allegedly taken from the expression 'to be as handsome as a truck'.

Luckily for D'Marge readers I'm as handsome as a forklift carrying a hat full of asses. So you're in good hands.

Zan Perrion: Seducer Extraordinaire

Zan Perrion is the man behind Enlightened Seduction, the men's dating and seduction school. Zan is the real deal, a smooth operator and lover of all women. When I say smooth I mean, velvet sprayed with teflon then rubbed on a baby's ass smooth.

Enlightened seduction teaches men that "Women are not attracted to men who are good looking, they are attracted to men who are attractive." I've had the privilege of listening to Zan's teachings and the guy is amazing. His view on women and the world is one of beauty, he believes they're all his girls and whether they are 18 or 100 they should all be celebrated.

I'll have to remember that next time a beached whale is gyrating up against me at a nightclub.

There's not much else that can be said about Belstaff jackets other than, they're awesome, they're in plenty of movies (I am Legend, War of the Worlds, Aviator) and the brand is well regarded as the best maker of motorcycle and aviation apparel.

Men's Patent Leather Shoes

12 months ago I couldn't have ever imagined myself in a pair of patent leather shoes, but its funny how things change. A pair of shiny patent leather shoes is one of this seasons must have's. And guess what?! I have.

I remember D&G having a 'space' themed winter collection full of shiny silvers and blacks. The collection featured some amazing patent leather boots and lace ups, the first I'd ever noticed. Since then, it seems their popularity has slowly risen and the modern metrosexual is embracing the shine.

Black, silver and gold are the most common colours available, with the usual pointy and rounded toes being favored by most designers.

Get yourself some, hip-cats.

Slim cut suits

Personally I find your more American and English cut suits to be too preppy and 'investment banker', but thankfully slim cut suits are in fashion and in plentiful supply. Grey, blacks, khaki and blues are the hot colours, with 1 and 2 buttons being the done thing.

What I really like about slim cut suits is their length or lack thereof. The jackets can be worn with slim leg jeans and runners to create a casual but smart look.

Men's Vogue has a great gallery of slim cut suits. Click here to see them.

Tailor in Style. Everything that is men's shirts.

After waiting patiently for my resident expert 'The Duke' to provide some fantastic wisdom on the do's and don't of mens shirts I grew tired and went in search of a new source.

What I found was a great site called 'Tailor in Style' run by the very informed and enthusiastic Peter Samsoe. With his global network of shirt aficionados, he plans on releasing a book dedicated to all which is 'Men's Shirts'. A nobel cause indeed, one which I hope D'Marge can be a part of.

I highly recommend every man (and woman) check this site out and signup for the a copy of the book when it's released.
