Top 5: Seriously Cool Melbourne Bars

A good drink at the end of the day can help to take your worries away, and in winter a stiff cocktail can bolster you before stepping out into the cold. Melbourne, with is plethora of purveyors can be an overwhelming experience to any newcomer, and just as confusing for a local to navigate. As a service, we’ve listed a few of our favourite haunts known for their easy, breezy atmospheres and awesome bartenders to boot. These superbly stylish venues are guaranteed to have you seated and relaxed, with drink in hand in no time.

#1 Bar Ampere
This unassuming bar/eatery modelled in a mash up of futurism and 1920’s industrialism features smartly uniformed staff, a well thought out menu and most importantly a fully stocked bar. I’ve listed it first as it tends to lure patrons to an after work tipple and bite, perfect to start a night out. (WWW(Photo Credit: Broadsheet)

#2 Seamstress
Need to get away from the footy crowd? Or the inebriated youths rampaging through the city? Then head upstairs to Seamstress for some cosy cocktails and conversation. The bar tenders there are the biggest drawcard and their ability to concoct a drink to your liking will have you whiling away the hours along the bar. (WWW)

#3 The Everleigh
Relaxed and refined is the atmosphere that emanates through the wood grain at the Everleigh. This intimate establishment fills quickly and with a liquor cabinet so aptly stocked it’s not hard to see why. It is Fitzroy’s answer to a gentleman’s club. But don’t fret, ladies are most welcome. (WWW)

#4 Bar Americano
Literally a hole in the wall. If you’re ever lucky enough to get a spot to stand, then stay there and work your way through Americano’s list of intriguing cocktails. These guys are well learned in the craft of drink and are happy to put something together for your individual needs. (WWW)

#5 Manchuria
A late night stop at Manchuria is never a bad idea. Hidden sneakily upstairs on a quite laneway off China Town you will find the ornamental door leading you into the hidden oriental den. Expect to be well looked after by attentive staff. There is always an air of sultry seductiveness here, hint: it’s worth bringing a date. (WWW)
