Glashütte Original recently showcased one of their finest timepieces at the 2015 Baselworld convention. Based on the classic polar exploration pocket watch from 1910, the new Glashütte Original Senator Observer is a self-winding wristwatch that takes the classic cues of a sailor’s timepiece and brings it into our modern times. A large 55 hour power reserve indicator on the dial side is accompanied by a exquisite matte-black dial inscribed with oversized numerals – the same font found on the maker’s original vintage pieces. The white-gold hands and hour markers are finished with green superluminova to keep time ticking over even in the ocean’s darkest corners.
Flip the 44mm case around and you’ll be greeted with a three-quarter-plate construction with striping and a rotor marked with the double G moniker. Those interested can expect a sticker price of US$11,800 for the leather strap version and US$13,200 for the bracelet.
