We don’t live in a world of holodecks and virtual reality quite yet, but we’re getting closer. Today Facebook announced the arrival of 360-degree videos in your newsfeed and one of the first to take advantage of the new feature is Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
In this immersive video clip, set inside the world of the film, you can speed across the Jakku desert and get an up-close-and-personal look at a downed Star Destroyer. It’s seriously cool stuff.
You can watch the video a couple of ways. On a desktop, click and drag to look around. On an Android device, you can move your mobile or tablet around to change your view. iOS users… sorry, you’re left out of this one for now.
Look for more 360-degree videos from other content providers in the coming months.
