Now that print is dying out (RIP) and teenagers insist on speaking in emoji, it’s all about the image. Enter Instagram, image exhibitor extraordinaire. The social network may have a reputation for being overrun by travel photos, selfie-snapping celebrities, and filtered pics of breakfast, but it has so much more to offer the style-conscious man. Instagram is now a top platform for showcasing the latest and greatest in fashion, thanks to men like these 10 debonair dudes.
Oliver Cheshire has been working as a model since being scouted at 15 while studying drama. His big break came as the face of Calvin Klein, but he’s worked for plenty of other big names like Dolce & Gabbana, Missoni and Vivienne Westwood. You can also find him reporting for GQ, writing a column for The Telegraph and managing his own fashion blog, or on the arm of pop singer Pixie Lott.
Benjamin / r3zap3rz
Who is r3zap3rz? We’d be lying if we said we knew much about the mysterious man, but we do know the two most important things: he’s well-dressed and worth following. All we really know of this suave gent is that his name is Benjamin, he’s a proud dad, and he knows how to wear a suit. Follow his Instagram for some flashy duds (often tailored, but sometimes casual) and idyllic pictures of family life.
Luisa Fernanda Espinosa
Get two for the price of one. The Instagram belongs to Luisa Fernanda Espinosa, a freelance fashion stylist, but the real star is her 6-year-old son Mateo. Matteo steals the show in a series of dapper outfits that range from the edgy, to the urban, to the formal, to the free-spirited. He’s already posing like a pro and has mastered the art of the selfie, so we expect big things from the little guy.
For gloriously full facial hair, Matthew Zorpas is a must-follow. Of course, much as we love those bristles, they’re not the only reason we’re glued to his Instagram feed. Matthew is also the founder of The Gentleman Blogger, a creative consultant, and a lecturer at the renowned fashion school Instituto Marangoni. He’s a sharp dresser with a signature style that blends traditional cuts with contemporary colours and patterns.
Fabio Attanasio’s bio dubs him “The young Italian voice of the fine art of bespoke tailoring.” The freelance journalist, blogger, and personal clothier is the man behind The Bespoke Dudes, a fresh take on classic Italian style for the modern age. Fabio’s enthusiasm for the finer points of men’s fashion is clear in his photos, which offer both style guidance and inspiration for your next holiday abroad. Prepare to be jealous of both his wardrobe and his travels.
Calling yourself an “influencer” in your Instagram bio is a bold move, but Filippo Fiora can back it up. F² is one half of the founding team behind The Three F, a Milan-based blog dedicated to living an elegant lifestyle. On the blog, architect Filippo and his co-founder – also a Filippo – share their personal points of view about men’s style with an Italian bent. Fiora’s personal Instagram is a perfect visual companion to the blog’s editorials.
Art Comes First
Design duo Sam Lambert and Shaka Maidoh are the well-dressed gentlemen behind Art Comes First, a collective founded “to circulate sartorial nourishment, oxygenating time-based projects through dynamic collaborations with different creatives in their network.” Fancy language aside, these two know what they’re doing and their Instagram’s images of fashion, photography, art and architecture are consistently cool.
Based in the Bronx, Street Etiquette brings a cultural, historical and urban perspective to the men’s lifestyle industry. The website’s list of accolades is lengthy, including mentions in GQ, Complex and Essence, an appearance in The New York Times, and being named Best Men’s Style Blog by the Guardian UK. The founders are Travis Gumbs and Joshua Kissi, the latter of whom keeps us entertained on Instagram with photos of fashion and New York City life.
Mariano Di Vaio
Mariano Di Vaio began his career as an actor and model in Italy, then did stints in London and NYC, then returned to Europe to continue modelling. In March 2012, he launched a website called MDV Style, a digital magazine dedicated to men’s fashion, lifestyle, sports, travel, music and movies. Naturally, his Instagram feed is wordly, inspiring, stylish, and completely envy-inducing.
Frequently spotted on The Sartorialist, Alessandro Squarzi is the founder and director of an eponymously named showroom and consultancy in Bologna. That’s reason enough to follow him, but we should also add that Tommy Ton once called him “THE master of Italian sprezz.” In addition to his blog appearances, Squarzi can be seen all around the world at prominent menswear events, as well as in his supremely stylish Instagram feed.
