During the legendary days of Le Mans in 1995, a renowned little racing company from Woking, U.K., managed to take out three memorable wins in a field of formidable competition. That winning car was the McLaren F1 GTR emblazoned with the iconic Harrods department store branding and finished in British yellow and green livery. Twenty years on, McLaren have done something special by creating the P1 GTR – a modern, hi-tech rendition of the same winning car from 1995.
The bad news? Unless you’re an Arabian oil tycoon, you won’t get anywhere near the new car which will be available for well-heeled clients partaking in McLaren’s custom track program. The good news? McLaren made this video featuring both father and son vehicles to celebrate the grand occasion. The oldschool F1 features a BMW powered V12 engine whilst the latest P1 is a different kind of beast, marrying advanced hybrid technology with a twin turbo V8. Who will win on the track?
Take a look at the video below, place your bets and hope that McLaren releases another video when their latest track weapon is unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in a week’s time.
