IWC Schaffhausen have long been a powerhouse in the Swiss luxury watch segment, but the esteemed maker has today brought something completely unheard in their history to the table. Dubbed the IWC Connect, the new digital device is an accessory which subtly fits to the strap of traditional IWC mechanical timepieces.
The e-strap, similar to Montblanc’s entry earlier this year, will mark IWC’s first foray into the much-hyped smartwatch segment with the promise to provide wearers with activity tracking and control of unspecified devices. With little detail revealed about the Connect to date, it’s safe to assume it will carry Apple iWatch-like functionality with access to mobile devices and internet services.
IWC’s brand CEO did however make a statement saying the device is “an intelligent design solution which perfectly integrates the underlines our product worlds.”
We’re just hoping for a new Big Pilot Top Gun Miramar edition with a seat eject feature on the Connect.
