Because Americans like to get swanky and all doll-ed up, the Met Gala 2015 red carpet looks stole this week’s best dressed celebrity edit. The ball celebrated China’s artistic influence on the West, so the internet was viral with the classic tux in its usual stately form or slightly jazzed-up with gold or red.
Lenny Kravitz and Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing stole the entry battle; the latter for his bold use of embellishment on a black jacket that could have easily been over looked.
Onto the Michael Kors and iTunes After Party at the Mark Hotel, Will.I.Am’s sporty-Givenchy could be found schmoozing the sky blue tux of Peter Dundas (Jourdan Dunn in arm); not forgetting Dundas’ ochre-lensed glasses on the night, adopted by fellow party goer, Lee Daniels, too.
Across the Atlantic, Giorgio Armani’s 40th anniversary attracted a ‘mixed bag’ of celebrities, some I haven’t seen in a while. Mr DiCaprio showed a penchant for grey suiting and retro aviators, sporting a surprise man-bun and Moses beard that seemed to have grown overnight. But it was Francesco Vezzoli’s grey overcoat and lilac sneakers that proved Italian men, including Armani, know how to dress for a party.
