It’s time to fire up your engines as we bring you the five trending stories that you need to know in the world of motoring.
#1 Lykan HyperSport Joins Abu Dhabi Police Force
The hypercar car that was made famous by the latest Fast & Furious film (don’t pretend you didn’t see it) has joined the right side of the law, becoming the new addition to Abu Dhabi’s ridiculous cavalcade of police cars.
We’re not sure if there’s even any serious levels of crime in the region but if their patrol cars are anything to go by, crooks on the run probably wouldn’t bother running. The Lykan HyperSport is the brainchild of W Motors, a Lebanese based supercar make which is now located in the Emirates.
The car features a 3.7-litre twin turbo flat six sending 740hp to the rear wheels with a claim of 0-100km/h in just 2.8s. Keep pushing and you’ll eventually reach 394km/h. The price of such performance and prestige? US$3.4 million. It begs the question: what are the cops’ salaries over there?
#2 Wild McLaren Special Operations P1
If you’ve got the cash to foot the US$1.6 million price tag, then why not paint the McLaren P1 whatever colour your heart (and wallet) desires? That’s exactly what one lucky owner did in the U.K with some wild results that faithfully mimics the F1 car’s paint job.
#3 Latest Batmobile Breaks Cover
Ben Affleck’s Batman caused an uproar on the internet when it was announced a while back, but the car he’ll be driving? Less was known about the new Batmobile – until now.
Showcased at an expo in Las Vegas, the latest Bat car is a clear departure from the much loved Tumbler of the Nolan trilogy. The heavily amour plated car will undoubtedly cut an intimidating silhouette through the streets of Gotham alongside its front mounted guns.
You can see it in action in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film slated for release in 2016.
#4 Infiniti Q60 Concept Lands In Hong Kong
The Q60 concept is Infiniti’s vision for their future sports coupes. Since its official debut in January, the car has been doing the international rounds to showcase the Japanese company’s bold new design language.
Rolling out of a non-descript container in Hong Kong for the first time, the car was a muscular sight to behold and something Infiniti hopes will set pulses racing when the production version lands. For now, you get an Arctic Aluminium finished car with 21-inch gloss black rims driven by a 3.0-litre V6 twin turbo with direct injection.
#5 Latest 007 Spot Features Serious Car Carnage
You would have seen the first trailer by now, but Bond is back with another (he always is). This time, audiences are given a closer look into Spectre’s two hero cars of the film which are seemingly at war themselves.
The bespoke Aston Martin DB10 and the defunct Jaguar C-X75 are seen racing the streets of Rome shooting flames at one another. No seriously, they are. Watch the trailer above.
