Catching the train from Florence to Milan was worth it, if only to witness the anticipation and atmosphere which fills the Italian style capital, Day 1 of fashion week.
While quirky sartorial looks – coloured blazers, checks and Fifties trouser pleats – were the go-to attire for Pitti Uomo this season, Milano opted for classic grey suits, linen blues and tailored separates with jackets that carried bold geometric and scrawl prints – instead of the rainbow of colour seen back in Firenze.
Blacked out sporty looks with felt hats sneakers offered a youth-y street chic, while other key trend, not surprisingly, was denim – appearing in a classic wash on jeans, shirts and Japanese denim coats. All power to the indigo, we say.
