As the men’s wear shows wrapped up for another spring/summer season, the cool looks on the street – from both men and women – poured on through the main piazzas. Milanese men donned their Sunday-best, with sharp blue suits streaked in a thin, white pinstripe, or white linen suits with blue lines. Others looked to chocolate double-breasted suits over leather moccasins; black tee shirt supporting the looser, more casual fit of the jacket.
But the casual jacket – be it bomber, car, Harrington or biker – was the star performer. Paired effortlessly with a plain tee or open collared shirt, the jacket was a functional piece in leather, denim or suede, as well as the more sports-inspire nylon jackets that even came with giant spots.
One thing worth mentioning was the emergence of embroidery on casual jackets and blazers – from florals to butterflies to oriental dragons. The look has been paraded on the runway in recent days and now it’s slowly emerging onto the street.
It will be something to rediscover next time we’re in town. Arrivederci, Milano!
