#2 Building The Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce
Lamborghini’s current halo car is no doubt an astonishing piece of kit. For a car that sits 4th on the ladder of the world’s fastest cars around the Nürburgring track, the vehicle should be deserving of a video which runs us through how the car works and how fast it is. Well the raging bull has delivered with head of Research and Development, Maurizio Reggiani, giving us an insight into the car’s drive and hitting 350km/h at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya circuit. The sound of the 6.5-litre V12 is also pretty sweet.
#3 BMW-Toyota Sports Car To Take On Porsche 911
Juicy new details have dropped on the BMW-Toyota sports car partnership with Motoring magazine claiming that the two companies plan to launch two sports cars in the Porsche 911territory sporting 470 horsepower. Further details from the unnamed sources reveal that the new models will be built on an alloy spaceframe chassis and feature carbon fibre body panels.
Powering the new cars will be an option of a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine and a 3.0-litre turbo six-cylinder. A plug-in hybrid variant will also join the lineup later on whilst Toyota will only use the 3.0-litre six and plug-in hybrid without a four-cylinder option.
#4 Tesla Teases Their Upcoming Electric Roadster
Without leaving their roots behind, Tesla have revealed that their beloved Roadster, the car that started it all for the Palo Alto company, will have a new life in 4 years time. In a press release for the Model S ‘Ludicrous upgrade’, the electric vehicle dropped the hint: “There is of course one speed faster than ludicrous, but that is reserved for the next generation Roadster in 4 years: maximum plaid.”
Given that the ‘Ludicrous upgrade’ for the Model S P85D enables a 0-100km/h sprint time of 3.3s, we can expect the Roadster 2.0 to go even faster in a smaller, lighter body.
#5 1968 Maserati Ghibli Spyder Can Now Be Yours…For $1M+
The very first and finest example of the Maserati Ghibli was truly something special. It’s convertible brethren? Bloody rare. Luckily RM Sotherby’s have tracked one down in pristine condition for your punting pleasure. Back in 1968, Giorgetto Giugiaro designed the car for Ghia with Maserati building just 128 versions of the Ghibli Spyder. This has made the car a highly sought after model for lovers of classic convertibles with vintage Italian flair. You can place your bid on the icon here or watch it cruise in style below.
