From the track to the fashion runways and the halls of music, motoring mayhem is aplenty in this week’s coolest wheels news. Bentley have unveiled their first-ever SUV, Ford have been out testing their latest Le Mans weapon and label rag & bone are out destroying vintage 911s in the name of fashion.
#1 2016 Bentley Bentayga Takes Luxury Off-Road
Bentley will soon be taking on the likes of Lamborghini and BMW with the impending release of their first ever luxury SUV, the Bentayga. The vehicle which walks a fine line between beastly and the refined will be powered by an oversized W12 TSI. That means 12-cylinders propped in a ‘W’ orientation much like the Bugatti Veyron minus a few cylinders. The British outfit has touted the engine as “the most technically advanced 12 cylinder in the world”. Watch the video below to decide for yourself if it is worthy.
#2 Watch A Noisy Ford GT Testing For Le Mans 2016
As mentioned previously, Ford will be returning to the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2016. The nostalgic event will mark the 50th Anniversary of the Blue Oval’s first victory at the prestigious race way back in 1966 with the iconic GT40. If it wants to claim the crown again, it’ll have to take on the might of Porsche, Audi, Ferrari and Corvette who are no slouches themselves.
#3 Destroying A Vintage Porsche 911…Because Fashion
Just when we think we’ve got our pulse on fashion (farshun?), American label rag & bone run off and destroy a beautiful vintage Porsche 911 in the name of – you guessed it – fashion. The commercial itself is perplexing, but what really blows is watching a fine piece of machinery being destroyed in such a way for no good reason. Is it art? Perhaps. Will it help them sell more clothes? Hell no.
#4 Latest Rolls Royce Wraith Made For Audiophiles
Rolls Royce have taken the covers off yet another stunning rendition of their Wraith luxury cruiser. Their latest effort tips a hat to the contemporary music scene, adding precious materials from the brand’s Bespoke Audio system to create “the most exclusive music venue” ever seen in a Royce.
Besides a unique Lyrical Copper paint, the car also receives a blend of brushed and polished textures throughout the interior which has been finely tuned by automotive audio engineers to resonate sounds of the highest quality.
#5 McLaren Victory Lap At Le Mans
In more Le Mans news, McLaren recently swang by the iconic French track with a cavalcade of their most esteemed race cars to celebrate its 20th anniversary since taking out the crown. The British outfit will not be joining the official race in 2016 but if it did, this could well be what it would look like – a P1 GTR, a P1, an F1 GTR Long Tail and five McLaren F1 GTR race cars all going for a sprint. If anything watch it for the noise.
