Instagram Is No Longer Square

So you’ve snapped a shot of your dinner, it looks just as good as it tastes and now you’re sitting on Instagram trying to pinch it down to format, only to have it spring back to size like that annoying mate that that pops up on Facebook all the time.

Instagram-non-square

Well ‘grammers of the world, rejoice; the days of trials and tribulations are over with Instagram’s announcement of native support for landscape and portrait-shaped photos. This means that your latest snap of the Harbour Bridge or celebratory bottle of Grey Goose won’t have to be edited in a third party app before you can filter and share it on your feed; removing those tell-tale white lines and making it easier to share your life in pictures.

Although users of the world’s most popular photo-sharing app can’t capture media in a landscape or portrait format just yet, this innovation signals a whole new era in the types of images that can be snapped and shared.
