Singapore has had much to celebrate over the past few days. Besides the nation commemorating its 50 years of independence, today also saw Singapore Airlines‘ exciting new venture taking off in Sydney – Premium Economy Class seats which will promise unrivalled levels of creature comfort and accessibility to Australian flyers.
The new cabins have been appointed to provide exceptional levels of style and innovation never before seen in the new Premium Economy segment. The new Singapore Airlines designs merge modern ergonomics such as 18.5 or 19.5-inch wide leather seats (depending on aircraft type) with an extensive 8-inch recline option and calf-rest and foot-bar for long-haul flights.
The centrepiece of the new premium economy seats however is the stunning 13.3-inch full HD touchscreen, the largest in its class, paired with active noise-cancelling headphones to provide the ultimate in in-flight entertainment.
Other notable wins for Australian flyers is the plethora of peripheral points including individual in-seat power supply, two USB ports, a full motion swivel reading light, hidden cocktail table, and extra stowage space. Not that you’ll be needing the space since the new class will also include 35kg of baggage allowance.
Singapore Airlines Executive Vice President Commercial, Mr Mak Swee Wah, said that “many of our customers have been asking for a Premium Economy offering and we are confident that what we are delivering will exceed their expectations.”
“The new cabin product is the culmination of two years of work, which included extensive research and focus group studies involving customers and our design partners.”
The Singapore Airlines Premium Economy Class will be progressively introduced on 19 Airbus A380s, 19 Boeing 777-300ERs and the first 20 Airbus A350s. Today marks the first voyage from Australia to Singapore for the brand new class.
