All hail windsurfer/insane person Alastair McLeod. In a moment of pure badassery, the daredevil took on Pedra Branca, Tasmania‘s most dangerous wave.
Despite howling winds that keep most ashore, McLeod became the first windsurfer to ride the ultra-remote megawave. It wasn’t all smooth sailing. Prior to catching his first wave, McLeod lost control of his gear, but narrowly avoided one of the fates – broken bones, concussions, torn muscles – that have befallen others who have attempted this feat.
McLeod says the conditions weren’t perfect, but he’s happy with the experience for a first attempt. Watch his triumphant conquest of Pedra Branca above, courtesy of Red Bull.
