27-year-old Queenslander, Jason Day has won the BMW championship to become the new No. 1 in world golf and the youngest Australian to do so.

Day has continued an extraordinary winning streak which includes the Canadian Open, PGA championship, the opening playoff event at the Barclays and now the third playoff event at the BMW championship becoming just the fifth man in history to win four times or more in the span of six events.

The victory also means Day has surpassed Northern Ireland’s Rory Mcllroy and American Jordan Spieth to the top of the world rankings, becoming the third Australian to reach the top.

Day has a guaranteed passage through to the final FedEx Cup playoff event next week where, should he win, he will also claim the $US10 million bonus.
