Banksy’s epic ‘bemusement park’ conceptual art installation has come to an end, but its story isn’t over. According to the Dismaland website, the dystopian take on Disneyland will be getting a new lease on life… in Calais, France.
The official statement reads, “Coming soon… Dismaland Calais. All the timber and fixtures from Dismaland are being sent to the ‘jungle’ refugee camp near Calais to build shelters. No online tickets will be available.”
Calais is currently home to nearly 5,000 Syrian, Libyan and Eritrean refugees who will soon be able to seek shelter in the parody theme park’s building materials. Say what you will about Banksy, but the elusive artist has proved he (she?) has no shortage of surprises up his sleeves.
