Travellers, rejoice. British Airways are refitting their entire fleet of 747s. The first of the 18 remodelled crafts has been revealed, with a refreshed interior and state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment system.
The retrofits include new seat cushions and coverings to increase customer comfort. Carpets and curtains have been replaced to align with the colour palette in newer new British Airways aircraft. Panasonic’s next generation eX3 entertainment system has also been installed, giving travellers a choice of over 1,300 hours of entertainment on larger, hi-resolution, touch-operated screens.
Customers in World Traveller Plus have been given perks of their own. They will now have access to a universal power socket at every seat, compatible with plugs from the UK, US and Europe. In addition, World Traveller customers will have their own personal USB socket to power phones and tablets.
The revamped jumbos will now operate on selected flights from London to New York JFK, Chicago, Lagos, Dubai, Boston, Riyadh and Kuwait, with further routes coming in summer 2016.
