Church Transformed Into Stunning Modern Home

Full screen

Going to church doesn’t usually sound like fun, but this? This is a whole ‘nother story. This gorgeous church conversion by Linc Thelen Design and Scrafano Architects is the stuff of dreams.

The 5,500-square-foot project saw an old church in Chicago, Illinois transformed into a single-family home for a family with three young children. Somehow the modern design touches blend perfectly with the original stained glass and other existing elements. And those 25-foot ceilings…

To make the space feel more contemporary, the colour palette is kept to cohesive neutrals. The walls are white. The floors are white oak to add warmth. The appliances are stainless steel and much of the décor is kept minimal so as not to interfere with the church’s grand historic details.

Oh, and did we mention the indoor rock climbing wall? Because there’s an indoor rock climbing wall.
