We know what you’re thinking: a floor made of glass shards sounds like the last thing you’d want in your pad. Before seeing this, we would have agreed.
Gisele Taranto Architecture and LZ Studio designed this unconventional floor, made up of thousands of mirror shards suspended under glass, for Casa Cor Rio, a major design and architecture event in Latin America. The design team say mirrors were used to highlight the concept of depth and reflection that was central to their vision for the space.
Though the floor is clearly the highlight, the rest of the space an intriguing mix of industrial design and whimsical elements. All that glass could even come in handy. In case of emergency: break floor, grab shard, fight off zombies.
