Lo and behold, as men get older the women they date get younger. A new book, written by OKCupid founder Christian Rudder unpacks the differences in age preferences between heterosexual women and men, with some interesting yet predictable results.
In terms of dating preferences, men and women couldn’t be more different. According to the book, men age, but the women they find attractive never do. At the other end of the spectrum, as women age the men they find attractive age with them.
Rudder came to these conclusions in his book ‘Dataclysm’ by plotting the age of OKCupid users against the age of the people they find most attractive. The results showed that while most of the time women find men their own age attractive, men always find younger women most attractive. Even at 50, the age of women most attractive to men stays at 22. Check out the difference below.
So, it seems unless you’re a 20-year-old, you’re most likely going to have to expand your dating preferences by a couple of years. Or at least over the legal drinking age.
