Porsche is bringing the fight to Silicon Valley with the Stuttgart company unveiling their new Mission E Concept for the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The Germans will be bringing to the table an arsenal of proven race gear from their 919 Hybrid race car program which this year took top honours at Le Mans, edging out rival Audi. Installed in the Mission E are two electric motors which will develop 600hp to drive all four wheels via a torque vectoring system.
And Porsche’s answer to Tesla‘s ‘Ludicrous’ mode? An estimated 0-100km/h time of 3.5 seconds. The range of the electric German supercar has so far been reported to be 482km, a few short of Tesla’s 500km range.
But that’s not where it stops. Porsche is even taking a stab at Tesla’s Supercharger network with its own concept quick-charge system which the company claims can reach 80% charge in just 15 minutes – that’s good for about 400km.
If the wildly futuristic concept does get the green light for production, you can expect to see it no earlier than 2019.
