Australia is about to receive another smartwatch player in the form of the Samsung Gear S2.
Following suit of Apple‘s move to muscle in on the world of horology, the Samsung Gear S2 is a similar exercise in innovation, taking over from its clunkier predecessor the Galaxy Gear S.
The latest Samsung watch will take to its competition with a sturdy list of features which includes a circular 11.4mm case housing a 360×360 display – that’s a vivid screen resolution which matches that of the Apple Watch’s.
Many of the specs of the Samsung are also on par with the Apple Watch such as processing speeds, memory and wireless charging capabilities. The differences are to Apple’s advantage only by the slightest, with a larger screen and more internal storage (8GB vs 4GB).
The Samsung Gear S2 trumps the Apple Watch with the gift of a slightly longer battery life and most likely a cheaper price than Apple’s $350 – $17,000 bracket.
In a press statement, Samsung Australia commented on the impending release of their latest hero watch.
“We are very excited to confirm that the Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch will arrive in Australia soon.”
“The Gear S2 demonstrates Samsung’s commitment to being a pioneer in wearable device innovation and advancing our smartwatch category.”
With aims of providing a “truly amazing smartwatch experience” for all users, the Gear S2 has a lot of work to do to stand out.
More details on the pricing and availability will come as the product nears local launch dates.
