Well, this is awkward. Earlier this week former Nike tennis star, James Blake, who was once ranked as No.4 in the world was incorrectly arrested by the NYPD.
Standing outside the Grand Hyatt hotel in Manhattan, a group of five officers charged at Blake and handcuffed him on the ground. They believed him to be a suspect in an identity theft ring operating in the area and questioned him on the scene.
On realising that Blake was not the suspect they were looking for, the officers released him and apologized.
In an interview regarding the mix-up, Blake went on to say that he “didn’t feel very safe” during the incident and that he wants to use it to shed more light on the excessive force that some police have used recently.
The NYPD have responded by launching an internal investigation.
