Saturday night’s Australian MotoGP round was not for the fainthearted.
As well as a number of death-defying near crashes, and an extremely close finish line, the riders also went head-to-head with a staple of Australian wildlife, the seagull.
While Australia’s Phillip Island race track is a beautiful location, it’s also known for having a serious wildlife problem. During the race, Andrea Iannone came speeding around a corner and obliterated a seagull who was perched in the middle of the track.
Apparently, the bird didn’t fair too well and neither did the bike. Post race footage showed a massive chunk taken out of the front left corner of the fairing where the seagull hit. Check it out for yourself above.
