Man of many talents, David Beckham is stepping out of his soccer boots and into the role of football club owner, with aims to have his Miami MLS franchise up and running by 2018.
The former England captain is currently trying to establish the franchise in Florida and recently revealed that his Miami club will be run like Manchester United, where he spent 12 successful years as a player.
“We want the club to be run professionally — everything needs to be run like a club like Manchester United,” Beckham told the Daily Star “…Luckily I’ve had a little bit of experience and I definitely will be a demanding owner.”
While the former LA Galaxy player has encountered a few hurdles along the way, his lifelong dream of starting his own club is soon to become a reality “…We’ve found a site where we want the stadium and we have to build it before we can come into the league. Our aim is 2018 but trying to build a team is something I’ve dreamed of since being a kid.”
As for the team’s name? Beckham is apparently tossing up between Miami Vice, Miami Reds and Miami United but is still undecided.
