Elon Musk Goes In, Calls Apple ‘The Tesla Graveyard’

Full screen

If you were wondering what Tesla CEO Elon Musk thinks about Apple’s reported plan to build an electric car, the answer is “not much.” He had some choice words for the Cupertino company in an interview with the German newspaper Handelsblatt.

When asked about Apple’s habit of hiring Tesla engineers, Musk snapped back with this gem: “They have hired people we’ve fired. We always jokingly call Apple the ‘Tesla Graveyard.’ If you don’t make it at Tesla, you go work at Apple. I’m not kidding.”

And he didn’t stop there. Musk agreed that a car is a logical next step for the iPhone giant, but didn’t appear to consider them a threat to his company. “Did you ever take a look at the Apple Watch?” Musk said (reportedly with a laugh). “No, seriously: It’s good that Apple is moving and investing in this direction. But cars are very complex compared to phones or smartwatches.”

Tell us how you really feel, Elon.
