As if Facebook isn’t already an extreme exercise in vanity, the social networking site will soon drop a redesign of its profiles on mobile that focuses even more on what matters most: you.
The news that’s rocking everyone’s digital world today is that Facebook will now allow GIFs as profile pictures. Your looping profile video can be up to 7 seconds long, culled from your gallery or recorded fresh. Profile photos and videos will also be larger and centered on mobile.
Other upcoming features include a new customisable space at the top of your profile, a short ‘Bio’ field, and temporary profile pics that revert to the originals after a set period of time. While all of this will be viewable across all iterations of Facebook, it’s only edit-able via the mobile app.
So far the updates are available for a small number of iPhone users in the UK and California, but Facebook plans to roll them out more widely soon. Watch a video about the changes here.
What a time to be alive.
