Legendary architect Frank Gehry has taken his life’s work around the world alongside the most iconic monuments. At 86, the self-confessed yacht lover has finally graced his discerning eyes over one very special vessel.
In a first for the Canadian, Gehry has taken possession of an abandoned boat and remodelled it off a traditional larchwood, titanium and glass latticework construction. The yacht itself spans for a towering 32 metres and Gehry explains how “on a boat like this, it’s about romance and romantic encounters.”
“I never had the resources before, and once I did I was busy doing my buildings.”
The yacht features intricate lattice design work and carbon fibre in abundance. What does Gehry plan to design next? “We’ll do a spaceship,” he says.
