We’re all for amazing hotels and luxury holiday destinations, but this one takes the cake. For your next getaway, why not rent a futuristic glass igloo in Finland and fall asleep under the sights of the Northern Lights?
Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, located in Finnish Lapland, 250 km north of the Arctic Circle is a family hotel founded in 1973. A man named Jussi was on a fishing trip in a small Finnish village when on the drive back he ran out of fuel. He had no choice to set up camp in Kakslauttanen. He ended up spending his summer there in a tent, and little by little he turned the area into a business, opening up a cabin, cafe and now a huge luxury resort.
Perfect for a group of wanderlusters or a romantic getaway, the glass igloos of Kakslauttanen include a toilet and the option of an extra bed. If you’re welcoming more company, the four-bedroom glass igloos also include a shower. But that’s just the beginning, Kakslauttanen also offers queen suites, log cabins and the ‘wedding chamber’ for your special day.
You won’t be slumming it on a dog sled to get there either. Although Kakslauttanen seems like it could be in the middle of nowhere, its nearest airport is Ivalo which is just a 30-minute ride away.
The price you ask? A glass igloo for two people will set you back around 508 euros per night. Not bad for Arctic-style luxury.
