Beard-envy. A 21st-century first world problem, weighing on the hearts and minds of men around the world, but hipsters with patchy, bum fluff chins need not worry.
More and more follically-challenged men are turning to modern science and opting for beard transplants, a grooming trend of 2015, quickly increasing in popularity.
The beard transplant has become particularly popular for baby-faced men who feel facial hair is necessary to make them look (and feel) their age.
According to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, beard transplants grew from 1.5% of all hair restoration procedures internationally in 2012, to 3.7% in 2014.
While beard transplants seem to be growing in popularity, they ain’t cheap. In fact, transplants range from $4,000 to fill in some patchy spots, up to $22,000 for one man who shifted his beard higher up his cheeks in two procedures.
If you’ve got cash to splash, and you’re lacking that perfectly rugged 5 o’clock shadow, maybe the beard transplant is worth a shot.
