Space is having a moment. Geeks everywhere salivated over NASA’s recent release of thousands of images from moon missions. The whole world tuned in to hear about the discovery of flowing water on Mars. The Martian is killing it at the box office.
Everyone is dying to get in on the interstellar action, including this space-themed hotel suite. Designed by German artist (and aspiring astronaut) Michael Najjar, the “Space Suite” at the Kameha Grand Zurich Hotel is a surprisingly chic take on lunar exploration.
Guests are completely immersed in an out-of-this-world experience. The walls, floor and ceiling are canvassed with universe motifs from the Hubble Space Telescope. Lights inspired by rocket engines hang overhead. The bed is inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey and designed to look like it’s floating in the absence of gravity.
There’s even an automated female voice that welcomes ‘crew members’ as guests enter the space suite, confirming their login and reading instructions for operating the room. Matt Damon wishes he had it this good on Mars.
