Get your cool kid hats on as we round up the finest goods and gadgets money can buy this week. Want a beautifully crafted Chanel rugby ball? You got it. Our hit list this week also includes underwater jet packs and one extremely rare Lamborghini sans roof.
#1 Chanel Rugby Ball
Bucking the trend of Rugby being a rough and tumble sport, Chanel have gone off and done the impossible – created beautifully crafted leather rugby balls to coincide with the Rugby World Cup. The four colours including white, burgundy, navy and black all feature the label’s signature quilted design approved by the eclectic Karl Lagerfield himself. You can order the balls via the Chanel site.
#2 X2 Underwater Jet Pack
You know summer has arrived when you’ve got water propulsion jetpacks strapped to your wrists. No? Well you do now. X2 have created an insane pair of thrusters which mount to your arms to allow you to cruise at underwater speeds of up to 9.5km/h and depths of 10 metres. A backpack provides the swimmer with power for an hour per charge and controlling it is a simple case of point and shoot. Your only issue? Remembering to come up to breathe.
#3 Instant Lab Universal
Gone are the days of Polaroids they said. Sort of. Instant Lab Universal allows happy snappers to transfer digital images from a smartphone or tablet into a classic instant photo. It’s neither camera nor printer and the beauty of that lies in its process of capturing images from your phone. The device exposes the images on your smartphone or tablet screen onto Impossible’s Polaroid-format instant film via a cool photographic process. Think of the traditional dark room and you’re on track. Simply place your device on the top of the lab and it’ll do the rest – old school style.
#4 Bulbing LED Lights
Welcome to the future where new things are made to look like the old things they once used to be. Case in point? These very cool Bulbing LED lights made to look like old school lamps. The unique design implements innovative 3D optical shapes to highlight its 2D design. You’ll never sleep again spending all night trying to figure this thing out.
Everywhere you go, always take the weather with you. Seriously though, Tempescope is a box which mimics the weather conditions by visualising cloudy, rainy and sunny weather using a combination of water, air and LEDs. Don’t like your local weather patterns? Set it to manual and keep it in a single misty mode to impress your guests.
#6 2006 Lamborghini Concept S
A slice of motoring history is again on offer and this time it’s a rare Lamborghini without a roof. Designed by Luc Donckerwolke, the Concept S was heralded as an extreme interpretation of an open-top Lamborghini Gallardo. The stunning car features “saute-vent” windscreens, re-designed and lowered for homologation alongside a very serious “spine” design which splits the cabin between driver and passenger. Lamborghini planned a limited run of the cars but due to the high cost of manufacturing, it only ever built one. This is chassis 001 you see before you – a one-off production street-legal Lamborghini which is guaranteed to turn heads.
