Earlier in the year Baume & Mercier forged an unlikely partnership with vintage racing group Carroll Shelby International – the creators of the iconic Shelby Cobra race car.
After producing two exclusive timepieces under the Capeland Shelby Cobra moniker, the second installment of the collaboration has arrived with the release of a one-of-a-kind Capeland Shelby Cobra timepiece.
Due to be auctioned at Antiquorum in New York City on December 15th, the sale will see all proceeds going to the Carroll Shelby Foundation.
The one-of-a-kind Capeland Shelby Cobra will follow the same design cues as the previous two with the exception of it being finished in a stunning 18K red gold. The flyback chronograph will house an off-white dial alongside racing accents such as the sky blue twin stripes as found on the cars.
The case itself is a 44mm polished red gold case teamed with a finely grained black calfskin strap with round-scale blue alligator lining and grey stitching. And an 18K red gold pin buckle, of course.
Signature touches can be found with the inscription ‘Shelby Cobra 1965-2015, Unique Piece’ engraved on the case back. The internal movement is driven by a Swiss-made mechanical self-winding movement from the Manufacture La Joux-Perret.
The accompanying presentation box will also house an additional black leather alligator strap with round-scale blue alligator lining and grey stitching.
The timepiece is extremely limited to say the least, with only one being made especially for the auction to ensure that it is the true collector’s piece.
The winning bidder will also receive an exclusive VIP package worth US$10,000 which includes includes a tour of the Shelby World Headquarters in Las Vegas, an original illustration of the Cobra signed by the Cobra driving legends, a Cobra driving experience, two custom-made racing suits, a personal item of Carroll Shelby and a photo opportunity aboard the vintage Cobra CXS2000.
