Refreshing takes on the classic suit reworked the red carpet this week. From Daniel Radcliffe in midnight blue at the Victor Frankenstein film premier to Paul Bettany at the Shelter release in a charcoal grey double-breast cotton suit, the best-dressed men of the week ignored the sartorial rules of black and white – and did their own stylish thing.
Sam Smith took to camel outerwear in New York ahead of the Jimmy Fallon show, while Zachary Quinto – still in NY – roamed the city streets in a unit of men’s style classics – peacoat, roll-neck and navy chinos – only to be whipped into action by black Derby boots.
But it was the LACMA 2015 Art Gala that saw men reinvent this holiday season’s party attire: Ricky Saiz in a muted-citrus Western-piped shirt alongside a post-Joker Jared Leto with pink hair (no longer neon green) to match his shirt.
LACMA also coaxed out to play the silver fox, Eugene Sadovoy – donning a stud-lapel tuxedo and smooth whole-cut leather boots. Patent leather Oxfords and satin lapels had no place on the red carpet, but rather left back behind in the den.
