The Playbook For The Modern Man

Surprise, Coffee Is Actually Good For You

Full screen

This is the news your poor overworked soul has been yearning for: a large study has found that drinking coffee, even decaf, is associated with a reduced risk of dying. Now that’s something to buzz about.

The latest research on the health benefits of coffee found that people who regularly drank moderate amounts of joe daily (that’s five cups or fewer) were less likely to die from cardiovascular disease, neurological diseases, type 2 diabetes, and suicide. We’re not sure how “moderate” five cups of coffee per day is, but who are we to fly in the face of science?

Before you run out and order the largest Frappuccino you can find, know that this research has its limits. The study uncovered a link between coffee and longevity, but it did not prove a direct cause-and-effect. The benefits also don’t apply to smokers, because even a superhero beverage can’t cancel out lung cancer.
