After Australia’s favourite NFL convert, Jarryd Hayne, was abruptly cut from the San Francisco 49ers earlier this week he was put on the waiver wire. To make matters worse, Hayne wasn’t scooped up by any the other 31 NFL teams during the waiver period and, as a result, there are talks he might return to the 49ers dwindling team.
Both 49ers Reggie Bush and Mike Davis are currently out of the game with injuries, leaving Kendall Gaskins as the only healthy RB left. This means there could be no choice but to welcome Hayne back on the team’s active roster.
With the 49ers already signing free agent Shaun Draughn and working out veteran Ben Tate in replacement of their injured players, it’s unclear at this stage if Hayne will be added to the practice squad or rejoin the active 53-man team.
Could the Hayne plane be taking off once again?
