At last weekend’s Only Watch charity auction, held in Geneva, a one-of-a-kind Patek Philippe sold for 7.3 million Swiss francs, making it the most expensive wristwatch of all time. The final price was more than 10 times the initial estimate, and almost double the next highest price ever paid for a wristwatch.
The belle of the Only Watch ball was the Patek Philippe 5016A, a stainless steel timepiece that includes a tourbillon, minute repeater and retrograde perpetual calendar. A rich blue dial and matching strap complement the steel case and applied gold Breguet numerals. The watch is masterfully designed, aesthetically beautiful and an obvious trophy for collectors – everything you’d expect from a ‘Super Patek.’
In all, Only Watch 2015 raised 11,268,000 Swiss francs for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy with 44 watches and clocks.
