This is either a match made in heaven or an unholy alliance that will destroy us all. Versace, notorious producer of ultra-luxurious Italian fashion, has arrived in Dubai, notorious home of ultra-luxurious everything, with a new hotel. Hedonism has officially hit new heights.
The 215-room Palazzo Versace turns Donatella’s maximalist aesthetic into “the most luxurious [hotel] that the Middle East has ever seen.” The grand lobby features a 1000-square-metre mosaic marble floor and walls covered in a special edition of the iconic jungle print from Versace’s wallpaper collection.
Wander in and you’ll find ceilings that have been hand-detailed in gold, bespoke furniture and textiles, marble and more mosaics. Versace’s signature Medusa head, as well as peacock and horse motifs, are featured throughout. Many designs were created exclusively for the hotel.
Palazzo Versace’s opening this month marks the luxury brand’s second foray into hospitality, following the first Palazzo Versace on Australia’s Gold Coast. The hotel concept is expected to expand to more destinations in the coming years, with Macau confirmed as the next location.
