Things could change in the next game for the Running Back though as he was today reinstated to the 53-man active squad after a raft of injuries from the current players.
The move all but guarantees Hayne a rare chance to prove his worth to the team’s coaches and 30 other NFL teams if he walks onto the pitch against the Detroit Lions on Sunday (Monday 5am AEDT).

Hayne’s journey into NFL has been compared to a short-lived dream which is today hanging on by a thread. On axing Hayne from the active squad two months ago, special teams co-ordinator Thomas McGaughey bluntly told the Australian press that Hayne “needs to learn how to play football” and that “it just didn’t work out”.
Regardless, Hayne will undoubtedly have the whole of Australia behind him as he aims to make it in an elite sport which he has never played in professionally until his stint with the 49ers.
