The rumours have been confirmed, gritty 1996 classic Trainspotting will be back with a sequel in 2017, with the original cast in tow.
While ‘Porno’ was the sequel to the original ‘Trainspotting’ novel, the film sequel is set to be different. The new screenplay will be based on the characters 20 years since the original story took place and will be written by John Hodge who penned the first film.
Ewan McGregor (Rent Boy), Ewen Bremner (Spud), Jonny Lee Miller (Sick Boy) and (Robert Carlyle (Begbie) are all confirmed to be returning for the sequel, which means plenty more crawling out of filthy public toilets and violent pub punch-ups.
Carlyle, who plays psycho crim friend Begbie said recently of the film, “It’s going to be quite emotional for people. Because the film sort of tells you to think about yourself. You are going to be thinking: ‘Fuck. What have I done with my life?”
