While you were ripping off wrapping paper and downing eggnog, Thom Yorke gave the world a very special gift: an unreleased Radiohead song that could have been the theme for Spectre.
According to Yorke, Radiohead were initially asked to pen the tune for the 24th Bond film. The honour ended up going to Sam Smith – whose theatrical stylings created serious controversy amongst fans – but we finally get to hear the Radiohead entry anyway. It’s a musical Christmas miracle.
If the moody strings and angelic vocals are not enough for you, a fan took the track and paired it with the film’s opening titles in place of Smith’s ‘Writing’s on the Wall’. Watch the video here and try not to mourn what could have been.
