Drone photography and videography are on the rise, thanks to the futuristic gadgets becoming more commercially available. To highlight some of the amazing work produced this year, Dronestagram teamed up with National Geographic, GoPro and more to host the 2015 Drone Aerial Photography Contest.

Professional photographers and amateur drone photo enthusiasts submitted more than 5000 entries from around the world. The competition was judged on creativity and photographic quality by a panel of experts, including Nat Geo photographer Ken Geiger and Jean-Pierre Vrignaud, Editor in Chief of National Geographic France and Dronestagram.

The winners are beautiful, inspiring and a touch vertigo-inducing. See the stunning shots that took the top prizes above.
