Step Inside Viktor & Rolf’s Magnificent 17th Century Headquarters

Full screen

Old college friends Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren have come a long way since winning a 1993 talent contest at the Festival International de Mode et de Photographie.

The Dutch duo have injected plenty of their surreal aesthetic into the label’s headquarters, an amazing 17th century former mayor’s residence looking over Herengracht in Amsterdam.

With a seven-window-wide façade and Doric-style entrance, Viktor & Rolf HQ is situated in one of Amsterdam’s oldest and most prestigious districts, yet 8 years after moving in, the designers (and their staff) have truly made the space their own.

Outside, a sculpted ornamental garden gives way to an elegant reception, boardroom, showroom and meeting room, each retaining their 18th-century style including windows, ornate ceiling cornices, period portraits, panelling, decorative woodwork, original weaponry and intricate parquet floors.

Known for creating fashion that is more ‘art’ than clothing, Viktor & Rolf’s headquarters are a true reflection of this.
