Artist Creates 8-Bit Watercolour Paintings Of Pop Culture Icons

Full screen

Star Wars art has, unsurprisingly, been huge in recent months. One photographer captured Darth Vader on his day off. Another imagined Star Wars ships on Earth. Other artists revamped the franchise’s iconic helmets and inserted characters into thrift store paintings.

With The Force Awakens still breaking records left and right, Adam Lister is the latest artist to get in on the trend. Lister’s quirky pieces combine classic watercolour technique with pixellated 8-bit cubes, using pop culture icons and other famous artworks as subject matter.

Star Wars characters both old and new appear throughout his work, from Luke training with Yoda to a portrait of adorable droid BB-8. Lister’s other pop culture subjects include Breaking Bad, The Godfather, Star Trek and superheroes of all kinds.
