Productivity junkies, this one’s for you. Harman is teaming up with Microsoft Office to turn your car into a mobile workspace, so you’ll never have to waste another commute singing along to embarrassing pop songs.
That doesn’t mean you’ll be compiling budget spreadsheets or cursing that paper clip while behind the wheel. The partnership between Microsoft and Harman hopes to help drivers complete other common work tasks – like listening and responding to emails, scheduling meetings, and joining conference calls – without taking their eyes off the road.
The plan is to incorporate parts of Microsoft’s Office suite to your car’s infotainment system. Some features will be available at all times. Others will only be accessible when the vehicle is parked or in an autonomous mode.
As long as we’re talking about self-driving cars, Harman, how about throwing some Tetris in there? Or Solitaire? Minesweeper? Angry Birds? We’d even settle for Flappy Bird.
