Fine niche watches which stand out are a rare find in today’s horology world. This is certainly not the case for luxury Swiss watch maker Parmigiani Fleurier, who this year celebrate their 20th anniversary with a collection of beautifully crafted pieces.
From the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda Chronor Anniversaire which will feature the maker’s first ever integrated in-house chronograph to the exotic Bugatti Supersport and the classic Tonda Metropolitaine Selene, these are the trio of watches that caught our attention at SIHH 2016.
Let’s take a closer look to show you what it’s all about.
Tonda Chronor Anniversaire
The belle of SIHH 2016 from this maker is no doubt one of their finest offerings. It’s an exquisite piece which marks the brand’s first in-house integrated chronograph which is manually wound, complete with a split seconds. And to celebrate this momentous occasion, it comes with a movement finished in solid gold.
Features on this piece include hours and minutes indicators in delta-shape and finished in rose gold with luminescent coating, a small seconds at 6 o’clock, a large date window at 12 o’clock, a split second counter and a Chrono 1/10 sec counter.
On the external front, we have a 42mm 18k white gold case which houses the calibre PF361 movement with a 65 hour power reserve. It’s manually wound and finished in solid gold.
The dial is finished in a classic royal blue and the strap you’ll receive is Hermès alligator leather in black. Pricing and availability for this piece is yet to be revealed. There’s also a second colour variation which comes with a white face and brown strap for the classic watch buyer.
Tonda Metropolitaine Selene
The ultra elegant Metropolitaine Selene adds minimalism without sacrificing on style. Looking at the steel strap version, we have the automatic calibre PF318 movement with a power reserve of 50 hours.
This drives the date under an open-worked dial, the hours and minutes hands finished in 18k rose gold and luminescent coating, the small seconds at 6 o’clock and a moon phase.
The case itself is a svelte 33mm finished in polished steel whilst dial colour for this particular piece is a vibrant ‘blue abyss’.
The strap for the watch is a choice between a sturdy steel folding clasp or Oceania Blue calf leather. Pricing and availability for this watch is yet to be released.
Bugatti Super Sport Saphir
A standout in its own respect, the Bugatti Super Sport by Parmigiani Fleurier oozes vintage performance timekeeping. The scroll-like shape of the case allows for the use of the double barrel calibre PF374 movement with a 10 day power reserve. It’s manually wounded and features Côtes de Genève circular-grained hand-belleved main plates.
On the function side you’ll receive hours and minutes indicators as well as a dedicated power reserve display. The case sits at 37mm x 50mm and is finished in exquisitely polished 18k rose gold and sapphire.
The dial remains super sleek and true to Bugatti’s racing form with a black and rose gold finishing, delta shaped hands with luminescent coating and a Hermès alligator strap. Pricing and availability for this piece is yet to be released.
