The project comes as a partnership with leading technology firm LeEco and looks to cement the company’s future in creating a new generation of connected electric vehicles.
This news shouldn’t come as a real surprise though given that the two companies recently worked together to merge the Aston Martin Rapide S with the latest Letv Internet of the Vehicle (IOV) system.
Advancement will be seen in the second area of the partnership where the development of low-emission vehicle technologies has been accelerated. This monumental task will involve looking at the production feasibility including the identification of technology solutions for battery systems and the cars’ powertrain systems.
Aston Martin CEO, Dr Andy Palmer, said in a press statement: “Aston Martin are dedicated to developing a range of cars with low emission technologies.”
“We have been encouraged by the project speed and technical depth shown by Letv in the development of the RapidE concept towards full production. Bringing the RapidE to market by 2018 is an important milestone for both companies.”
Green performance car fans can expect to see the new cars rollout during the second half of the decade.
